LAKE SUCCESS, NY. — Baked beans maker Bush Brothers & Co., Knoxville, Tenn., has acquired the Westbrae Natural brand of The Hain Celestial Group, Inc. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Hain owned the Westbrae business for the past 25 years, having acquired it in 1997. Westbrae’s products include non-dairy beverages, canned beans and soups.
“In our continuing journey to simplify the company and focus on the brands and categories with growth potential in line with our strategic direction, we are pleased to announce the divestiture of the Westbrae Natural brand to Bush Brothers,” said Mark L. Schiller, president and chief executive officer of Hain Celestial. “The divestiture of this non-strategic brand represents another important step in simplifying our North America portfolio, while improving our future growth profile, margins and cash flow. The transaction allows us to focus more resources on driving distribution and expanding innovation on priority brands.”
The divestiture of the Westbrae business follows Hain’s April 2021 sale of the Dream and WestSoy brands to SunOpta Inc. for $33 million.
