SPRINGDALE, ARK. — Tyson Foods Inc. officials confirmed that the company is consolidating its logistics, including its warehouse operations and transportation business as well as manufacturing and engineering, with the formation of a new Supply Chain Center, which will be led by Brady Stewart effective Sept. 1. Mr. Stewart currently leads the fresh meats business.

“The creation of an enterprise Supply Chain Center further advances our capabilities and enables the organization to drive data-focused decision making through the expanded use of digital tools,” said John R. Tyson, chief financial officer.

Mr. Stewart assumed the role of president of Tyson Fresh Meats in 2023, joining the company after working at Smithfield Foods Inc. as chief operating officer.

Streamlining the supply chain is part of Tyson’s efforts to return to profitability as the company, and the entire meat and poultry processing industry grapples with higher feed costs, demand shifts, labor shortages and other headwinds. Tyson’s struggles were reflected in its 2023 fiscal third quarter results, announced on Aug. 7.

Tyson added that the reorganization is designed to address some of the challenges and get the company back on track.

“Our commitment to cost structure improvement is at the core of our supply chain management strategy and a competitive advantage for Tyson,” he said.
