Quick-service restaurants expand menus with new wraps and sandwiches.
Panera Bread added a toasted baguette sandwich: the Black Forest ham and gouda melt. The sandwich features Black Forest ham, country mustard, arugula and smoked gouda on a toasted baguette.
Burger King is adding a spicy version of its chicken nuggets, as well as a frozen Fanta kickin’ mango option. The fiery nuggets are coated in a spicy glaze, while the frozen Fanta features a combination of mango and citrus, with a touch of spicy chili flavor.
“Heat is definitely having a moment, so this felt like the perfect time to introduce the fiery nuggets with the spicy glaze we know our guests love,” said Chad Brauze, senior director of culinary innovation and sustainability, Burger King North America. “Glazed with cayenne peppers, birds eye chili and black pepper, the new nuggets provide the perfect combination of flavor and spice.”
Popeyes is expanding its chicken sandwich offerings with the permanent addition of the blackened chicken sandwich, the bacon and cheese chicken sandwich, and the blackened chicken sandwich with bacon and cheese.
Taco Bell is expanding its menu with its first fully vegan entree: the vegan crunchwrap. The vegan crunchwrap features vegan seasoned beef, topped in a vegan blanco sauce, vegan nacho cheese sauce, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes and a tostada shell.
Chick-fil-A is bringing back its peach milkshake for a limited time, along with its white peach sunjoy, which features a blend of lemonade, sweentened iced tea and white peach flavors.
“With each passing year, our peach milkshake’s loyal followers eagerly await its annual comeback,” said Leslie Neslage, director of menu and packaging at Chick-fil-A. “Its arrival signifies the beginning of summer at Chick-fil-A, and this year, the excitement from our fans has inspired us to expand our peach offerings. Introducing the White Peach Sunjoy and several other refreshing variations, we are excited to witness the peachy choices our guests will make all summer long.”
Noodles & Company is testing a new stuffed pasta in select markets, including Colorado Springs, Chicago and Columbus, Ohio. The pasta options, which vary by location, include:
“When we introduced our original 3-cheese tortelloni option in 2021, it quickly became our top-performing test item ever and has remained a guest favorite since becoming a mainstay on our national menu,” said Nick Graff, executive chef and vice president of culinary at Noodles & Company. “Since then, rewards members and guests have asked for more and we're happy to deliver. Our culinary team immediately went to work researching and developing new stuffed pasta innovations that included pairings our guests crave, like chicken prosciutto, Italian sausage, smoked gouda, and bacon carbonara. We are proud to have something on the menu for everyone, and now there's even more for our guests to enjoy with these new stuffed pastas.”
Culver’s is expanding its “Flavor of the Day” menu with lemon berry layer cake and dark chocolate PB crunch flavors.
“We can’t wait for our guests to try our two new flavors of fresh frozen custard this summer,” said Quinn Adkins, director of menu development at Culver’s. “Between the tangy, summery lemon berry layer cake and the rich, gooey and crispy dark chocolate PB crunch, there's a little something for every custard lover in these two flavors.”
Taco Del Mar is bringing back its tropical lobster taco and classic lobster taco to its menus for a limited time. The tropical lobster taco features lobster and seafood, mixed with onions, serrano peppers and cilantro, that is topped with shredded cabbage, mango salsa and a cilantro lime vinaigrette. The classic lobster taco features shredded cabbage, Baja white sauce, pico de gallo and a lime wedge.
“We understand that guest demands and cravings shift when the seasons change, and we embrace those changes as opportunities to bring flavor-forward items to our seasonal menu,” said Mike Gieseman, vice president of culinary and innovation. “With summer quickly approaching, we’re offering our guests what they are craving by bringing back the light and refreshing tropical lobster taco and classic lobster taco. Our lobster tacos feature high-quality ingredients such as the mango salsa, pico de gallo and cilantro lime vinaigrette, all made in-house with fresh produce.”
First Watch is expanding its beverage menu with two permanent iced coffee options: mint mocha and honey caramel crunch. The mint mocha iced coffee features chocolate and mint, topped with a sweet cream cold foam and mini Ghirardelli dark chocolate chips, and the honey caramel crunch iced coffee features salted caramel and honey, topped with a sweet cream cold foam and toffee crumbles.
“Iced coffee is a lifestyle, and First Watch is inspired to showcase the same creativity that we bring to our juice bar and seasonally inspired menus with these new beverage offerings,” said Matt Eisenacher, senior vice president of brand strategy and innovation at First Watch.
Just Salad debuted its summer menu, which features new menu items and returning items. The summer lineup includes a variety of salads including the Backyard BBQ, honey crispy chicken, the Gotham, Tandoori fire, and a seasonal soup special of chicken poblano soup.
“At Just Salad, we carefully curate rotating specials inspired by the flavors for each season of the year,” said Jhonny Castro, culinary director at Just Salad. “Our new summer salads combine refreshing seasonal produce with bold, flavor-packed ingredients to create a fresh and memorable taste with every menu item.”
Red Lobster is bringing back Crabfest, when consumers can order a pound of roasted garlic butter, honey sriracha, lemon pepper or steamed crab legs.
As part of the Crabfest, Red Lobster debuted crabby cheese fries, which feature seasoned fries topped with cheese sauce, lump crab and garlic cream. The restaurant also is adding seasonal beverages, including a watermelon martini and a ruby mule.
